Toddler Bike Parent Picks Compare

This comparison lines up three beginner kids bikes and the helmet that should ride along with them: Glerc Rover ($109.99), cubsala BMX ($109.99), Glerc Fantacy ($103.99), and the Exclusky kids helmet ($23.98). The bikes cluster at 8.7-8.9/10 overall with safety around 8.8, which is typical for entry-level 12-18 inch bikes: coaster brakes, training wheels, steel frames. Glerc Rover stands out with 2.4-inch wide tires for grip and a front hand brake, the right pick if your 3-5 year old already scoots confidently. cubsala is the most beginner-proof: training wheels, coaster brake for small hands, full chain guard, and it ships 85% assembled (about 20 minutes to finish). Glerc Fantacy adds an adjustable seat, water bottle holder and LED light across the largest size run (12-20 inch, 2-13 years), so it grows with the child longest. Whichever bike you pick, budget the Exclusky helmet too - its EPS liner and one-hand dial fit cover 50-57 cm heads, and it costs less than a spare tube and a labor fee.

Pros

  • Glerc Rover ($109.99): 2.4-inch wide tires grip loose surfaces confidently and a front hand brake prepares kids for bigger bikes; includes water bottle holder.
  • cubsala BMX ($109.99): true beginner package - training wheels, small-hand-friendly coaster brake, full chain guard, 85% pre-assembled in about 20 minutes.
  • Glerc Fantacy ($103.99): widest growth range here (12-20 inch, 2-13 years) with adjustable seat, LED light and bottle cage standard.
  • Exclusky helmet ($23.98): high-density EPS foam liner, thick soft padding and a one-hand dial retention system covering 50-57 cm heads.

Cons

  • Glerc Rover: at ~19-21 lb for the 14-inch build it is heavier than premium alloy bikes, and the included training wheels need careful alignment before the first ride.
  • cubsala: the steel frame keeps the price low but pushes the 12-inch build to 10.7 kg (23.6 lb), noticeably heavy for parents carrying it to the car.
  • Glerc Fantacy: LED accents and bottle cage add trim, but the coaster brake remains the main stopper - no rear hand brake on smaller sizes for advanced riders.
  • Exclusky helmet: Small size caps at 57 cm head circumference, so measure before buying for kids over ~5 years old; it is a helmet, not a bike, in this bike comparison.
